Title: CorelDraw DXF export file does not load in Lazycam
Post by: alex718 on January 10, 2007, 12:17:21 PM
I am new to this forum and trying to get my plasma cutter working. I have CorelDraw 7 and a trial version of CorelDraw X3. When I export to a DXF file, it cannot load in Lazy cam. Here are the two messages I get. I tried a simple script which says "William" and did the file-export on both types of Corel.

One says MachManip with a red circle with a X inside. This file was exported using the new X3 version and when opening it with Notepad, it does not have any like breaks. In Wordpad it looks ok.

The other says MachManip with a yellow triangle with a ! inside - "No entities found in import." This file was created in Coreldraw 7 and it does have line breaks in Notepad but doesn't load in Lazycam.

I must be doing something wrong in CorelDraw. Can anyone help me ?

Can you post your files for us to see?

Did you go to additional options at the bottom of the reply page and add them there?

Here is the CorelDraw file for which I changed the file extension to txt so it would be accepted in the attachment. Rename it to .cdr to open it

Hey Alex,
I tried it as you posted and got the red x message. I then saved it as an Autocad 2000 dxf and it loaded it with no problems. Can you save it as an older DXF? The older the better.

Alex,
If you can't save it in an older format, try this one.

thanks, your file worked good. Using the new version, I tried saving as 2000 and it did not work. I opened the dxf file and it does not seem to have end of line carrige controls, all the text is bunched together. I also have CorelDraw 7 and that dxf file does not work either. So, I am stumped.

Here is the file I created using CorelDraw 7. When I try to load this one, I get an error that Lazycam cannot find any entities.

I save these as Autocad DXF 2000. Must be a little different than Corel. Can you save these in another program and try saving them as a DXF?

Try this converterhttp://www.a9tech.com/products/a9converter/
Make the output file DXF
Make the output verson autocad 12
Then drag and drop your CorelDraw File into the converter then hit convert

I tried the A9 converter however it will not accept as imput a .cdr file which is the natural output for CorelDraw files. Thanks for the suggestion

I exported from CorelDraw as a plt file and it loads directly into Lazycam. I exported a DWG file and used the A9converter to make a DXF file and it worked fine. I wonder what is wrong with LazyCam and my versions of CorelDraw ? I also tried the file export in Turbocad ver 6 and it did not work either as a DXF file. BTW, when exporting, I do not get the option to create version 11 file, only to 13 and up.

Try the DXFTool from CandCNC (http://www.candcnc.com/DXFToolDetails.htm) it works with CorelDraw V12 and X3.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will look into it when I get my hardware working better. My plasma torch is acting weird. At the moment, I am having success with exporting hpgl plt files. They load into LazyCam with no problems.
