Title: Z axis moves up 2 inches after I start G code start cycle
Post by: dbusbee on May 18, 2012, 12:23:23 PM
When I Z zero my CNC using auto zero with plate and start cycle Z axis jumps 2 inches higher than normal and air cuts. When I Z zero manually by jogging to surface of material machine works as normal. I'm using mach 3 control software.
can Anyone help me with this issue?  I checked offset screen to make sure my gage block info is correct.

I would imagine there must be something in your button code doing it. Maybe attach the code and someone may see a problem.

It sounds as if your touch plate thickness is set at 2" thick

thanks for the replies. I checked gage block thickness and its set to .50 which is the actual thickness of block.
When I Z zero with auto zero function and then send machine to home all is well the bit rest on top of material
surface but when I start cycle bit jumps to 2 inch height then lowers to mill out height(.1250) and air cuts @
1.8750 above material

Is it using a G43 offset?
