Title: different screens displayed
Post by: Fred_evans on May 10, 2012, 04:50:29 AM
Hello Guys--

I am using Mach3 on a lathe  and the screen that appears when I startup is very basic
just " welcome to mach3 professional turn" and four buttons down the righthand side.

If i open Mach3 by clicking on the file in explorer i get a very different screen with lots of buttons
and much more detail.

Questiona are

 - can I use either screen and will they refer to the same config?

- How do i get mach3 to open the detailed screen by default

- In your opinion- which screen should I use ?

regards

The default screen for the lathe is 1024.lset.
You can change which screen you use once Mach opens. Click the View tab, select Load Screen, in the flyout for file types
select Turn Files (*.lset), click the open button. You should see and select 1024.lset.

You are obviously opening two different profiles so they will not have the same config unless you have set them up the same.

Thanks chaps-
The detailed screen seems to have much more functionality-
should i set it up as the default screen ?
or will that bring about more complications?

I assume that by detailed screen you mean the mill screen.
Suggest you use the standard lathe screen to start and if you don't like it, then do a search and you will find some screen sets done by others.

If you use the standard Mill screen then it will function as a mill. If you wish to use a mill screen then you will need to rename to have a file extension of .lset if you plan to use it with a lathe and have the correct plane, toolpath, turn options, wizards etc selected as default.
