Title: Digital Machinist CNC Workshop
Post by: George Bulliss on April 26, 2012, 04:02:51 PM
Just wanted to post a short note to let people know that there have been a few changes to the Digital Machinist CNC Workshop this year.

The previous year’s schedule made it difficult for many to get away for the entire event; vendors and attendees alike. For this year, we reduced the length of the show by one day and moved it ahead by one day. It now runs from Thursday through Saturday (June 21-23). Now you won’t have to use up all of your vacation time to attend. The daily hours will be increased a bit and classes will be scheduled more fully on the final day, so there should not be much of a change in content.

Another change is the option of attending on Saturday only. This option will allow you to sample the Workshop without a major commitment of time and money. For a fee of $15, you will be able to access the vendor area and attend one selected seminar (title yet to be determined).

There will also be an informal parking lot swap meet going on Saturday and anyone who has paid either the Saturday only or the full attendance fee is welcome to sell or buy.

More information on the event can be found at Workshop Info (http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net/forumdisplay.php?f=10)

I would also like to encourage anyone who may be interested in exhibiting their project(s) or perhaps giving a seminar to contact me directly for the details (gbullliss(at)villagepress(dot)com).

Moderators: Obviously my first post here. Feel free to clue me into the rules or move this thread to a more appropriate location if it doesn’t belong here.

Regards,
George

Hello George
Will there be any "Using Mach 3"...Intermediate Classes?
I've been using my 4x8 for two years, daily.
I want to move to the next level.
Thanks.
Dan

Hello Dan,

Scott Shafer is returning this year to do a talk on Mach software that might fit your desire for something a little more in-depth. This class will be held on Friday (6/22), starting at 10:20 and will run a little over four hours, with a one hour break for lunch. The following is Scott’s description of the class:

Using MachScreen and Building a Basic Wizard

Summary:
• How to make a Mach3 Screen using “MachScreen.”
• Basic Wizard using Mach’s Cypress Enable VB scripting engine.
• Basic screen graphics including dual graphic state LEDs.

Software we will be using:
1. Klaus’ “MachScreen.”
2. “RealDraw Pro” graphics software.

Goodies:
• Like last year, I will give to the class my “Resource” docs on Mach3,
specific VB script calls, organized OEM codes, and programming manuals
via wireless peer-to-peer shared folders. If you don’t have wireless
on your laptop, bring a jump drive.
• I will show a Mach3 “Flash Screen” and BRIEFLY touch on Flash Screen design.

Class Requirements if you want to fully participate:
1. Download a trial or buy “RealDraw Pro” from: http://www.mediachance.com/realdraw/index.html
2. Download “MachScreen” from: http://www.kd-dietz.com/klausphp/pag...scription.html
On that page, click on Program Downloads, then click on MachScreen.

Disclaimers:
• The Wizard part assumes that you have at least passing familiarity with VB script.
There is not NEAR enough time to teach VB script.
• Graphics examples will only be shown for RealDraw Pro, no claims are made
for any other graphics program being compatible for dual graphic state LEDs.
• Questions will be answered for the topics we are covering, but questions outside
what we will be doing will have to wait till the end of class for the Q & A session,
ASSUMING if we have extra time at the end of the class for a Q & A.
