Title: Mach 3 set up for Limit and Home switches
Post by: krugshouse on March 02, 2012, 07:30:31 AM
I am so confused I think my head will explode. I have read and watched videos on setting up limit and home switches in Mach 3. I think I have it right but I want to confirm before I do something that fries my system. so here is what I think.

X-- and X Home Pin 10 (1 switch does both)
X++ Pin 13 (1 switch)

Y-- and Y Home Pin 11 (1 switch does both)
Y++ Pin 13 (1 switch)

Z-- and Z Home Pin 12 (1 switch does both)
Z ++ Pin 13 (1 switch)

E stop Pin 15 (1 switch RED)

Is this configuration correct? If not please tell me the right way to set up my limit and home switches.

Follow up to my question.

X-- & Home (1 switch) and X++ (1 switch)  Pin 10
Y-- & Home (1 switch) and Y++ (1 switch)  Pin 11
Z-- & Home (1 switch) and Z++ (1 switch) Pin  12

Still only using 6 switches

There are a few ways to do it. It looks like Tweakie might have helped clear up any confusion. I use all switches on the same pin homing works fine. Using one pin only allows single axis homing at a time (all axis will be homed but not simultaneously). No matter how you set it up, if you are using steppers no harm will be done even if it is wrong. It will stall the steppers but no harm is done in that.

Hi, hope someone can help.  Every time I press ref all home, the z moves down.  I have cleaned x and y magnetic switch , checked my plugs. In my diagnostics all HOME1,2,34, has yellow square.

Though I hope you figured it out before now. Changing the direction of travel on the Z in the homing/limits menu. Z should home upwards, typically.

 I am guessing your active/low state was backwards in port and pins.
