Title: MDI Feedrate Problem
Post by: slowtwitch on February 20, 2012, 07:17:14 PM
Hello Folks, I really don't know if I'm posting in the proper forum, if I am, my apologies. Anyway, I have an issue with getting the proper feed rate in MDI. (Btw, I am running with a smoothstepper installed).  When I type in a G code ...for example  x4.00 F6 ...instead of 6 ipm, I get 75 ipm. Actually, it doesn't matter what feedrate i put in the MDI line, it always runs at 75 ipm. I had the mill running really nice for a few days. this problem just started today. Could it be a smoothstepper issue???? Any help would be appreciated :)

Almost forgot.. I'm running Mach3 R3.043.058 and have the newest smoothstepper drivers and plugin's..

thanks
pete

If you simply type "X4.00 F6" how fast it goes will depend on what move it made last.  If the last move was a G0, then it will ignore the F6, and move at rapid speed.  If you want the F6 to be respected, you have to MDI "G1 X4.00 F6".

Ray, thank you for the reply. I'm still very new at this cnc stuff and I had a notion that it may be some type of beginners error :)

I'll give it a go in the morning...
