We cannot calibrate our machine. We have triple checked that all gears are tight. Our machine is a shop built Mechmate. The x axis is driven by two motors. The second motor is assigned a and is slaved ( per config window) to the x. In the motor tuning window the x and the a have to be set separately and manually by pasting x numbers into a, and will not stay the same when setting the step calibration from the settings window. The errors stay consistant. ie, When we calibrate x to 90" and then check it at 48" it is off - 3/32. If we the recalibrate at that point and then run it out to 90", it is off +3/16. Hopefully you have some suggestions.

You can not set A as far as I know when you are slaving as what happens is whatever you have set for the master goes to the slave.
How are you working out your steps per unit? Is it only the master/slave axis or are the others off as well?

I think that is the problem. It won't set the A the same as X, or atleast it doesn't appear to. To calibrate we are going to Settings page, Set steps per unit. When you look at the Config, motor tuning, x and A are not the same, but they will both change if you change the calibration.

Can you attach your xml and also say what your gearing setup is and what drives you have.

Sorry to be a DA but what is xlm?

The XML is your Mach configuration file. It is located in the main Mach3 folder and will have the name of the profile you are using. For example, if you are using the standard Mill profile it will be called Mach3Mill.xml.
You will need to rename it for the forum to accept it. Copy it to your desktop and rename it, something like YOUR_NAME.xml then use the additional options button on the reply page, browse to it and attach it to your reply.
