Title: serious dolphin turn issues
Post by: turbothis on February 02, 2012, 02:47:04 PM
i cant get dolphin to do the simplest thing. ???
the preview shows exactly what i want to do. i even took out some tasks to make it simpler.
the g code it makes is useless and looks like a child just jammed on the keys. :'(

Sounds like you inadvertantly loaded some of my hand coding.  ;D
Have you had this working well previously ?
Using the correct PP ?

this is a simple 6 tool gang lathe
tool 0 is a stop and x/z zero
1 is +1.5"
2 is +3.0"
3 is +4.5"
they are all 1.5 on center.
i type in the offsets in dolphin and use only front tool post in the settings.

i tryed to use the front and rear tools too but that just dropped me in the 7th level of hell on dolphing and machturn. LOL
i have a good handle on all of the coding and such but for the life of me i cant get the dolphin to play nice. lol

I only have the demo so I cant do much here, but I get an error ...Contains invalid path.
I'll have to watch this as I'd like to buy Dolphin....if Hood still likes it that is.

Hood will be along, I'm certain.
Might be working for the TAX man today.

I would suspect the problem is in the Dolphin config. as the code is goofy before it even gets to Mach.
Your screen shot looks oK to me.
Not much I can do with Demo, dang ! Wish I could help.

There are two Dolphin PP for Mach, one for radius and another for diameter.
Which one are you using?

Hi Rich, till he gets back. Would it make any difference between the 2 pp's if he were just drilling on the cl ?
Do you use Dolphin, licensed ? What do you think of it ? I like the looks of the demo.
Thanks,
Russ

toubothis attached file and see if it does anything what you want
I didn't do anything special, just used you file and posted using the diameter mode PP.

on a side note, should i be expecting "jog follow" and "tool position" to work in the machturn?

i have a simple part that it looks like dolphin coded right.
now on the tool offsets, i have a front profile tool. this is x and z zero.
in the back i have a parting tool.
it is 7" away from the front tool and .700" closer to the chuck.
what do i put in the tool offsets to make this work?
this is all with having no tool offsets in dolphin and same front turret.
thanks for the help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Probably best to set that up in CAM. Might save you some editing.
Here is how it would look in the Mach tool table with your front profiling tool as the MASTER tool.
