Title: Loss Of Limit Functionality
Post by: rayzsurfer on January 06, 2012, 01:55:46 PM
I have a DIY CNC Plasma machine that I am setting up, I am using a Gecko G540 controller with X,Y and Z axis. I have limit switches on the X,Y and Z for a while it was working fine. I had set them up as a home reference and I could hit the reference button and the machine would work fine, going to each limit switch and back-off. Well the probem started when I tried referencing again and the Z axis would not move. I assumed I had crashed my switch so I started checking it out but it works fine, even tried a different switch.

I open the controller to check my connections and all was fine. Has anyone had this problem before? Any suggestions?

Are your limits showing on the diagnostics page? If you press them manually do the LEDs light up?

They are and they used to light up, the z doesn't any more.

If you attach your xml I can look at the config but it does sound like there is a hardware issue.
Do you know if the switches are normally closed or normally open type?

Hood I will attach the file when I get home. They are normally open switches. I appreciate your time and help, I have seen you are quite prolific on here with the help.

Xml looks ok, except maybe the A axis Home switch is set the same as the Z, I am not sure if that is correct or not as I dont really know what your hardware setup is like.

Hood, I found the problem. I was using a DB25 printer cable not a straight through cable. All is well now. On to the next challenge! Thanks for the help.
