Title: what am I doing wrong
Post by: skaha on December 25, 2006, 02:51:22 PM
Each time I try to cut the roadrunner, I place the material on the bed, jog the cutter to about 1.5 inches from the top of the board and the same from the left edge, sitting in front of machine, top being the farthest away from me, I zero the axis, regenerate the tool path and run, it will cut the pattern too high on the board, when it gets to the roadrunner head, in my mind it would have to go into a minus position on the y axis because it has gone to the negative side of the y axis based on where I zeroed it.
What am I missing?
Thanks and Merry Xmas to all.

Is the road runner too big for your board? I don't understand exactly what it is doing wrong. Does it throw an e-stop? Are the axis traveling in the right direction?

The board is more than big enough, it does not throw an e stop the cutter justs moves beyond the top edge of the board, a couple of inches above my starting point. My way of thinking is if for example if I jog to the center of the board, zero all axis, the cutter should not move above that zero point without going into a minus reading on the dro. Another way of putting it is how do I know where the cutting is going to take place on the board?

Zero your axis and see where crosshairs line up. Try jogging until your spindle is at the bottom left corner of the board, zero your axis and try to run the program. I think that the problem is orientation of zero on the roadrunner versus what you may be use to.
