Hi recently purchased a Boxford 240TCL and a Bridgeport Series 1 R2E3 which had been rarely used by the College they were in,
The Boxford has been upgraded to a Serial Interface, Converted to Single Pulley, Homing Switches, Turbo Boards and V10 Eproms by Boxford.
The Bridgeport literally looks brand new.

Can anyone help me get started converting these to Mach3 please? Any Help will be appreciated
Thank you in advance

Have you looked at the Mach docs? I'd start with the first one, Install and config.

IF the BP runs ok I would use it untill it quit.

is the lathe stepper based? If so, get a G540 and GO..... you will loose the panel functionality but then it will all be PC based anyways from mach3
if the mill is not working and will cost more then some servo drives ect, then do the same with the mill. (assuming its servo driven of course)

Thank you for the replies guys,

if the boxford runs just get a breakout board and use the existing psu and drivers. You'll need to interface the 12v logic on the drives to the 5v logic of the breakout board and add an isolated analogue board for the spindle, and that's about it.

that's one of the better 240s, with a 3hp motor and sgs drives, nice find. I've had one just like it, and the conversion is relatively easy.

Thank you AngelTech,
Can you recommend a breakout board please? I may need a little guidance with the interfacing.
Thank you again

anyone of the available breakout boards would be fine.

Hi Angel Tech,
Would this board be ok?

or do the two boards have to be separate?

looks ok

Hi Guys, Sorry about the late reply,
I have now purchased the Engineering Company next door to my place, its taken me a few months to settle in..
I have moved the machines onto the shop floor, Is there anyone local to West Yorkshire that can help me get these running on Mach 3?
I will happily pay Labour for the conversion.
Thank you in advance
