Title: motor tuning?
Post by: MarkC on October 31, 2005, 08:22:25 PM
I'm trying to tune my motors on my micro-mill. I have servos, and the one on X sometimes starts to move them stops. I have to set acceleration to an incredibly low value (.5 or so) to get it to run somewhat reliably. I tried to set the step pulse width to something other than 0 but it won't save it Have latest version(1.83.012) as of this writing. Other axes work well as is & I can rapid all. Just have problems feeding, usually near end of program!

Thanks
Mark ???

Hi Mark,
I'm not sure about this setting, but a few setting changes require that Mach be closed and reopened before continuing after the change.
Also, I'm assuming that you are hitting "enter" right after you enter the new number(s).....

Hope I'm helping,
John (Bloy)

I've closed & reopened Mach, but still the same thing. I put in a 1(or 2) and save and everythings fine, but when I open motor tuning page again all are 0.

Update
Thanks John
was able to finally get Mach to accept (and keep) a value in pulse width. It did change tho, as I opened & closed Mach. Seems to like keeping 3 in place so thats where I'll leave it. Didn't make much difference tho. I did change backlash feedrate(% of feedrate) and that seemed to really help. It was 8%. I have it at 50% now and seems to work well. It seemed to always stop as soon as it started; maybe compensating for BL? Does this make any sense?
I'll take what I can get. Ran program thru about 10 or 12 times successfully
