Title: re A/C servo motor encoder and steps
Post by: woffler on July 01, 2011, 09:49:15 PM
Hi everyone i am in the middle of a stepper to servo change and i need a little help ,I have a A/C Servo motor with a rpm max speed of 1000 rpm with a 16,384 count per 360 degree rev encoder or 14 bits so it says and a direct drive setup with a 5x20 MM ball screw and i can not get the steps correct on this even with a a dro attached to the axis dro res . .0002 can some one give me some ideas of what i might be doing wrong.

3276.8 should eb the steps per mm if what you say is right about the encoder. If thats not right then do you have a link to the manual of the drive and motor?

Here is a link to the sight they are the large 7.2 newton meter motors on the products page there is a driver and encoder pdf. as well as the motor .  Thanks Hood

I am not sure how these will work as they are absolute encoders so I must presume your drives accept Abs encoders?
How far off are things? It could be the 4096 that things work on so steps per mm would be 819.2

Have you tried using the Auto steps per set up to see what it reckons?
