Title: Stepper issue????
Post by: CrashMasterKev on December 04, 2006, 06:12:06 PM
I have a new machine a 24X36 tabletop with geckos and steppers and had it running pretty well,  I was running a program that I had already ran a couple times and it was fine, then I lost steps or what I believe is lost steps in the Y axis and ever since it has not worked right, my X & Z axis’s are working fine (Jogging) but the Y is still acting up, when I try to jog it will go in whatever direction it wants not necessarily the direction I choose to jog.
I swapped the Z and Y motors and that didn’t help, I swapped the Gecko drives  for those axis and no change??
I cant even home it, it just groans..
Any ideas???
Thanks in advance.
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
When you swapped the drives did you swap the blue push on connectors or leave them with the y axis? If you just pulled them off of the pin connectors and back on the other drive, rotate them 90 degrees and push on if space will permit. Does each axis have a separate power supply? Can you turn the screw for the y axis freely by hand?

Check out your wiring to make sure its all sound, also mess around a bit with your motor tuning for that axis.
