Title: Spindle speed increaser, belt drive x 4
Post by: sven_d on June 15, 2011, 06:04:38 PM
Belt driven, water cooled spindle speed increaser using 4 deep groove ball bearings. Increases spindle speed x 4. Works a treat
Acad file is 2004dxf.

Very nice, tried to do something similar myself but gave up before I could get it right, cooling was the problem for me but looks like you have that sorted :) I tried the flood to cool things but as I had made the speeder up and added the coolant channels as an afterthought it wasnt very good.
Thanks for sharing.

I overcame the heating problem (which was generated by the viton seal) by removing the spring and machining the seal so it only made contact by a fly-*********,
still gets warm around 50c but not a problem.
