Post by: Tweakie.CNC on June 13, 2011, 12:14:43 PM
On a tip from DanZ the beta of this is available for free download at http://www.123dapp.com/

Also available are a number of free 3D models.

Thanks for the info, Tweakie. I have downloaded and played with it a small bit. It seems to be a very good cad program, especially for the price. I found no mention of any kind of usage restrictions, such as commercial purposes or whatever, so that's great also! One thing I did notice, is that I could not save as DWG, and then import into vcarve pro demo. The options for 123d are extremely limited, it appears. Maybe that's just because its beta. Anyhow, great find, and thanks for sharing. I'm definitely going to work with it some more.

Hi Sam,

Glad you are finding it interesting.
Others on the Phlatforum are exporting .stl or .dxf to convert to the GCode but they are sounding pretty pleased with their results.

Problem is, vcarve will not import STL, and 123d will not export DXF. Bummer.

Looks like with V5, you can "publish" a 2D .dwg.
Save As .dwg gives you a 3D .dwg, of no use to V-Carve.
