Hi everyone!
Is this calculation correct? I have just finished my mini mill cnc conversion with Mach 3 software. The stepper motor is a Nema 23 with 311 oz. with a driver board set to 10 micro steps.
The stepper cal is 2000, the velocity set to 600, what should the step and dir pulse be? The drive systems is belt drive (due to space limits ), the motor has a 16 teeth gear. the ball screw has 32 teeth gear. The ball screw is a Nook .631 with a .200 lead (single start). Should the stepper cal remain at 2000 or changed to 20000?
Thanks to everyone.

air2gnd,
MOTOR MICRO REDUCTION BALL SCREW
200 steps / rev X 10u steps X 32 teeth/16 teeth X 5 rev / inch=20000 steps per unit
Doubt very much that you will do 600 IPM.....maybe 60, find the max velocity, reduce by 30 to 40% and experiment some for reliabilty.
Check for backlash, then use Mach's axis calibration feature to check / refine steps.

Thank Rich. I will change to those settings
