Title: taig mill
Post by: nige on November 25, 2006, 07:13:44 AM
hello folks
complete newbee to the forum
i have been running a taig mill for two years on the mps2003 programme and have been a little downhearted with the lack of control
not that I'm an experienced engineer, quite the opposite  i am a designer and relatively new to engineering.
we are a UK based company and  have been using artcam software to create jewellery which is a fantastic programme and the taig mill is adequate for our use as most of the stuff we produce is wax so we are not really dealing with torque so much, we also use mills from bits and bits in the US.
when i saw the Mach 3 programme i thought i should give it a whirl ,however it seems a little complex so Ive got my head down in the pdf manual so i might be some time ....................
my question is if anybody is or has used taig mills with Mach 3 and if so could i be setting the pins wrong or something ??? as i cant seem to get any com/ control
i would appreciate any feedback at all

I suggest also you download the videos as they will give you a quick understanding of how to set up Mach. Once you are set up then referring to the manual for specifics will be a great help. If you need help then this forum should be able to help with more specific questions.

Where are you losing the signal? Do you have any enables on the control side that are not made? Can you post some screen shots of your settings? Are you using a straight through 25 pin cable? Not a printer cable. Did you install drivers when you downloaded mach?

Hi Harry, I'm running a taig mill with Mach3.  I have an .XML file for taig and mach 3 that will set up the ports and pins for you.  Shoot me a PM with your email address and I'll send it to you.  I am just as new as you at this software but I have been using it with great success after some help from the guys here.  The software is great and really works well once you get it set up and use it a bit.

Let me know if there is anything else you need help with to get you taig running, I'll try my best to help you out.
