This is a common occurance here, got me too !
You must hit a carriage return at the last line of code.
Most ues a % as the last line to assure that there was a carriage return after the M30

Like,

I KNOW BETTER I GOT IMPATIENT BEFORE I POSTED ... THANK YOU FOR REMINDING ME.  OUR 20X40 VMC USES AN ANILAM CONTROL NO START AND STOP IT JUST READS THE M30 OR M02(COUNTER)...
OUR OKUMA 4AXIS LATHE IS THE SAME.... ALL OUR LASERS AND TURRETS ARE FANUC (USING START STOP)

DOES COMMENTS IN MACH USE (  ) ?

I AM BUILDING THIS LITTLE MACHINE TO GO INTO PRODUCTION ENGRAVING PARTS FOR ONE OF OUR CUSTOMERS ... I GOTTA HURRY UP AND GET IT READY ...
I WANT IT TO BE PROGRAMMED THE WAY I WANT IT...

Technically, I think you are meant to use ;COMMENT otherwise if you use (COMMENT) the comment will flash in the message/error part of the program .
