Title: can closed loop spindle control be used to trigger estop when rpms wrong?
Post by: mike345 on December 16, 2010, 02:50:58 PM

Using a SS441 hall device I was able to get closed loop spindle control working using an input on my Gecko G540.  The G540 is controlling the spindle speed via PWM.

Is there a way to trigger an emergency stop if the spindle RPM is significantly different than what is being set?

For example, if I set the spindle to 1000 rpm but the closed loop control sees 0 RPM (or anything under 900RPM) is there a way to make MACH3 do an estop or trigger a fault?

Have a look at this thread, this VB in the  macropump should work.
