Title: Z AXIS
Post by: The Phoenix on December 02, 2010, 01:08:13 PM
Hello ALL
I’m building a CNC router, I’ve  refitted a Denford Orca lathe and a Denford mill with new Boards to run with mach3 the Lathe is up and running so is the mill
the problem is the router Z axis  stepper motor  Question is dose Mach 3 run the Z axis slower as I can’t get the motor speed up as fast as the X & Y axis’s if so can I override mach 3 when the motor is running sweet it stalls with the light presser
Looking for some help
Many Many Thanks in advance
The Phoenix

Hi Phoenix,

Welcome to the forum.
Mach will run any or all the axis at the speed you set in motor tuning section for the axis in question (up to the point the motor stalls,of course).

Just for reference, my Z axis is set to run slower than the others, mainly because of the dead weight it carries and the finer pitch leadscrew fitted. Unless you are planning on mulitpass, deep 2.5D work a slower Z should not cause any real increase in program execution times.
