Title: Tool offset On/Off not working.
Post by: rduart on November 14, 2010, 01:42:05 AM
To start with I am completely new to machining, so I will do my best to describe my problem.   Would anyone have any idea why the “Tool Offset On/Off” button would not be working.  The behavior is always the same.   I bring up the “offset window” enter tool number "1" ( for example)  and press the Tool Offset On/Off button.  The green indicator never lights up and the tool number I enter is reset to zero.  For that matter, the tool number is reset to zero if I just click in the next box down.
My approach has been:
1.   I am using the Tormach TTS tooling system, so I am measuring my tools on a bench and entering the measurements directly into the Tool table.
2.   I load the test G-code program provided my Tormach
3.   I reference the machine.
4.   I open the offset widow - enter tool 1 (which is the Tormach Touch Tool) and try to enable Tool Offsets.   The indicator does not light up and the tool number is reset to zero.

5.   My next step would be to touch off the z-axis using the Tormach Touch Tool, but I cannot get that far.

Does anyone have any idea based on the above description what the problem might be, or what other data would I need to provide you for your help?

Thanks,

Randy

Are you pressing the "ENTER" key after entering the "1"?

Al, thank you for your reply.  The answer is no it never occured to me to hit the enter key, and yes hitting the enter key worked as you recommended.

Thank you,

Randh

Any tome you enter a number into ANY Mach DRO, you need to hit "enter" for it to take.
