I have installed a startech pci parallel card because there is none on the board. When testing the port with mach3 i can jog any of my axis and see the volage drop from 5v to 0v, the problem is it stays at 0 until i reboot the computer. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

That may be normal, which pin are you checking? Test on a Dir pin and jog one way then the other and see if it toggles between 0 and 5 volts as you change directions.

same on all pins...as soon as i toggle just one buttonthe voltage drops and stays there.
Thanks

Presume you have the correct address set?
Do the DROs in Mach move when you jog?
-
the address for pci 2 says d050 so that is what i put in mach3 on parallel port 2 and yes the dro's do move when toggled. I also have the parallel port monitor installed so i can see the outputs being activated

Well assuming the port monitor isnt interfering and it is seeing the port toggling then it would see your port is bad.

Just read again, you say the port monitor sees it activated, does that mean it sees it toggling or just the initial activation? Have you tried without the port monitor?

Yes port monitor sees it activating. I have tried it without port monitor and hooked to the bob, but the same thing happens and the voltage drops from 5v to 0v and stays there until i reboot even though you can see it toggling in port monitor.

I would say it has to be your port that is the problem then as it seems that PortMon shows Mach is acting correctly.

Just another thought, o you have anything connected to the port when testing the voltages? If you do then remove it and try again.

yes just some test wires coming direct from the parallel port to a dvom. I think i'll just ditch this card.
Thanks

try moving your card to a another slot.
