Title: Leadscrew vibrates in one direction
Post by: leaveme on November 04, 2010, 05:20:00 AM
Hi CNC experts:

I need some help from your guys.
I have a home built CNC. My leadscrew is vibrating and screaming in one direction for the base axis (I called it Y). Specifically, it is happening from other end to me but not from my end to other end. All other axis's and directions are smooth.

I did some adaptation in different areas, i.e. replaced the rails, reduced the speed & acceleration, nothing really helped. But it did a little improvement after I switched from 1/8th microstepping to half stepping.

Please advice about where to check...

Thanks in advance.

LEAVEME,
All has to do with the size / length, operating rpm, how the screw is supported and even allignment. Have a look at the technical information available from ball screw manufacturers. Specificaly read info on anchoring and guiding of the screw and critical speed of screws. There are charts or if you so desire you can use the formulas provided.
