Title: true spindle speed
Post by: shroyerdog on October 22, 2010, 09:33:01 AM
Hi,
I am trying to confic a small lathe to mach3 and can not get the true spindle speed/tach to register any value.
Using a C3 index card connected to pin#15, both LEDs lit
Using a single slot index wheel (do not have dimensions here but was configured per the mach user guide)
Index line in ports and pins checked; port 1, pin 15
Active low checked/unchecked with no difference
Spindle start and speed control are manual
What am I missing ???
Thanks for any help,
Pat

Are you telling Mach the spindle has started, ie calling a m3s****

Hi Hood,

I am also facing the same problem, i am using GALIL4123 for a small lath, have connected a spindle sensor the I/P No. 7 of Galil and in ports and pins assighned the index to port 1 and pin 47.

I checked in the diagnostics the index input is appearing whenever the index sensor senses. but i am not able to display the true speed of the spindle in MACH3.

And whenever i start the threading operation i.e M32, Alarm 'Unrecognized command' will appear.

Where am i doing Wrong.

Answered your PM, you will need to ask on the Galil section of the forum.

As said I know nothing about how the Galil works so you will need to ask on that part of the forum. For a normal parallel port setup or Smoothstepper (only two I have used) all you need to do is set up the index pulse in Ports and Pins and the RPM will display but from your problems it seems the Galil requires more.
