Hi, my router spindle is an ordinary 240v with an on off switch. Can I control its speed through mach 3 or simply turn it on and off? My breakout board is a TB6560. Do more expensive spindle such as Kress spindles have extra circuitry to enable speed control and perhaps a lower operating voltage?
Thanks in advance

You could certainly use a relay to turn on/off and control that via Mach but not sure about the speed.

Hi, thanks for the reply have decided my best option is to go for a spindle rather than a normal router on noise grounds if nothing else ! The question is which one? Any recommendations would be welcome. Must be fully controllable from mach 3 and relatively quiet.
thanks

This is what you are looking for: http://www.cnc4pc.com/Store/osc/product_info.php?cPath=25&products_id=155.
We also have a new version of that same circuit: http://www.cnc4pc.com/Store/osc/product_info.php?cPath=25&products_id=155 .
It goes between the PC and a basic breakout board or parallel port drivers, such as HobbyCNC, G540, Xylotex or Rockcliff. Since it provides Safety Charge Pump, buffered signals, and terminals for inputs it can really enhance the setup of any router based system.
