Title: Wireless Network Not Connected
Post by: Chaoticone on October 23, 2006, 04:15:21 PM
Hello All,
I have a D-Link wireless network between my dedicated machine control PC and my office PC. Almost anytime I have Mach up and try to do anything over the network I lose my connection. Any words of wisdom on how to fix this? Would I have better luck if I hardwired the network? :-\ The two PCs are only about 30 feet away from one another. I went wireless for the isolation in the event of lightning. :'(

Does it happen when Mach is up or when the Machine is running ?
It has to be interferance from something.
I just use "sneaker"net between my two PC's .
USB stick handles it well.

Yes, just when Mach is up. Not necessarily running. I'm also using a USB stick. What is sneaker net?

I told you guys how much I knew about computers. I know, I know. Sometimes I amaze myself. LOL  :D
It is bizzare. ( If that's spelled wrong, it's your fault. I copied yours. ;D) Hood was telling me that Mach takes almost complete control. I think he's right. I'm way too lazy for that sneaker net business. Excuse me while I hook up some cat. 5. ;D

Oh well I cant remember saying that, I think Mach takes very good control of the port right enough but doesnt really use much resources. Run some code and look at the CPU Usage. Mine very rarely goes over 20%

Got that Cat5 ran last night. It is doing sooooo much better. While on the wireless, if I tried to go to a shared folder from the office, sometimes it would shut down my Mill PC. It may come right back up as if rebooted or it may have an ugly screen. Saying ugly stuff like "A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer." Anybody got any ideas why?

It could be a lack of shielding on your PC, 2.4Ghz wireless can send all sorts mad.

The digital control on my washing machine hates my laptops wireless connection.
