Hello All:
I am wondering if there is a way to identify if Windows XP is working correctly or if something is interfering.
I have been running Mach 3 R 2.0.023 for several years now. I was running it on a IBM P4 1.6Ghz machine. I attempted an upgrade to the latest (Ver 3.042.040) and although it worked there was a velocity irregularity in the Motion. It would speed up or slow down while jogging.
So I bought a faster PC (3ghz) and have installed the latest version on it. Now I get a jerky motion with the jog function. I am using amplifiers that take step and direction and apply it onto servos. These amps have a software tool that allows tuning of the servo loop. Using that tool, the motion is perfectly smooth and happy. However when I push the amps from Mach 3, a jerky motion occurs (using the jog commands). It seems to me that there is a drop out in the pulses from Mach 3. And perhaps there is a windows process I should be getting rid of.
Does any one know if there is any socumentation on the effects of windows on Mach three other then qtask.exe? Ive nothing else on this PC but Adobe acrobat reader for the manuals. and It does it with or with out the network connection being attached.
Perhaps Im missing something, but If any one can point me to a list of windows known issues, I'd appreciate it
THanks
mj

Mike,
Have you checked the Win XP optimization doc at the bottom of this page - may be something there that you haven't tried already.
