Title: Add image is under background
Post by: ger21 on June 29, 2010, 08:16:06 PM
I want to add an image of some text, but it's hidden behind my background image. I can swap it with the background and it shows up, but it messes up every other element on the screen. Is there a way to bring an image to the top? Tried copying and pasting, but they all end up under the background image.

Hi Gerry,

the display order is bitmaps, leds, image buttons, controls, all from largest to smallest size. If you place controls which overlap, you can select those and use edit -> "swap layer".

Hi Gerry,

did my suggestions help solve your problems?

No, I mentioned in my original post that I can't swap layers, because it messes up the display of all the other controls. It would work if I added the images at the start, before adding other controls.
I can use an LED instead of an image and that should work though. I've used this method before on my Aqua screen.

Hi Gerry,

do you still have the screen with the messed up controls. I you could send the set-file I will have a look at it.

I swapped the layers again to get back to normal. Right now I'm in the middle of a bunch of changes. When I get a chance, I'll see if I can duplicate it. If so, I'll let you know.

Gerry,
Did you ever figure this problem out? As I am having the exact same issue.

Sorry, but I have no recollection of what I was doing.

I went back to using Screen4, and only use a single background bitmap on my screens. Multiple bitmaps have always had issues for me.

Thanks for the quick reply! I guess I'll email Klaus about it.
Thanks again.

Hi Hacker77

sending me the files generated by "Project Export" would be helpful, in that case I would have your MachScreen Settings.

Hey Klaus for some reason it says file not found. I have the bitmaps under C:\mach3\bitmaps. It's in a folder labeled for that screen set.
But MachScreen can't find it for some reason.

Hi,

have you set an user defined Image path (Menu ->Options ->Settings)?

If I recall correctly, trying to layer bitmaps in Mach3 is problematic at best.
I've found the best course of action is to use a single background image, with transparent buttons over the top of it. I include my DRO boxes and buttons on the background  image.

Hello,

since this problem seems to appear more often I will show a way which should solves this problem.
 - Make sure you have "Multiple selection" selected (The second Icon from the right in the toolbar shows "M"). You can toggle it by clicking on the Icon.
 - left mouse click on the place where you want to change the layer.
 - MachScreen will show all control elements from there, independent  whether visible or covered. When you hover with the mouse over the element names, the selected element is shown with a colored frame to help identify the control. You can change the layer order by dragging and dropping the image.  To do so, click the bitmap to move, hold down the left mouse button and drag it to the required place. Save your screen set and reload the changed screenset in Mach3.  see attachment
