Title: Homing weirdness
Post by: Yodawill2000 on October 14, 2006, 05:59:22 PM
Forgive me if this is something silly, But its got me stumped.

I set up a home switch on the X axis just to get a feel on how to set them up.
I have it set to normally closed , and manually hitting the switch lights up the LED Yadi yadi yadi,
The problem Im having is when I referance home the X axis moves about 1/8 inch to the switch then stops ?
Over and Over.
If I keep hitting ref home until the switch is hit it then backs off the switch like it should ?
Any idea what I may have set up wrong ?

It rapid and slow jogs just fine.

The shop PC isnt networked.
Anything I should look for ?
I have it set just like Arts in the video exept the Table size.

Not really sure, thats why I wanted a screenshot to see if I noticed anything unusual. Might want to try increasing the debounce setting.

Looked at all the screens and went through the manual.
Where is the Debounce setting ?

Depends which revision of Mach3, if its the latest few then its under the config menu and General Config page. If its a slightly older version I think its on the Config then  state page but could be config logic.

Suppose I need to upgrade  ;D running 1.84.001
It was under config/Logic

I went from zero up to 20 in increments of one.
It made it go longer before stalling but still stalled after about an inch ??
What is the average setting ?
Not sure what it does actually.

What it does is make the inputs less susceptible to noise. I think mine is set at 100 by default but I am sure I have seen Art and Brian suggest as much as 1000.

Hmmm.
I have uber sheilded everything.
And the slow jog works smooth as butta'.
I'll crank it up and see what happens.
Thanks Hood.

Hey Hood,
Do you think this may be where that tick of the axis is coming from on my axis when I fire up my machine?  My debounce and index debounce were set at 0. What is the index debounce?

Did you get those pics. I sent you yesterday?

Thanks again Hood'ster
I ran it up too 1000 and it homes just fine.
Kinda weird as even a super slow Jog worked fine before.
Oh well.
As long as it works !!

Good you are sorted Yoda

Brett, I think your ticking when starting the computer is windows  querying the parallel port. If your breakout has the charge pump feature you should enable it and that should stop any twitching as the drives wont get any pulses at all unless there is a steady stream at a certain frequency.

Not being lucky enough to have a breakout board I just fire the two controllers up after
Windows and Mach are running.

Yes, I have a charge pump, I think it is flaky though. ??? I got a new seprate pump thursday. I will try that today. It's not real bad, once I open Mach and hit reset, it quits. I will let you know how it does.

What is the dif. between index debounce, and debounce? ???

Thanks,
Brett

Brett
The Index debounce would be, I presume, for the Index Pulse, ie the spindle speed .
