Title: Definifn addresses of a parallel port
Post by: Eduardo on June 05, 2010, 07:09:01 PM
Hi there!
I am installing MACH3 under Windows7 32 bit Professional Version.
According to Mach3 manual, port address is 0x378, if computer's port1 is used. However this is not the case, I am using port 3. Properties of my parallel port in Windows System menu display are : I/O Range DC00-DC07, corresponding to parallel port 3 in my computer. How should I put this information into Config-Port and Pins dialog page in Mach? is this the hexagonal format?

I will appreciate very much all the information you can give on this matter.

Thanks
Eduardo.

Hi Eduardo,

You are right - It is Hex.

Your port address should read  0xDC00

I have just installed Mach3 on my Windows 7 machine as well.  It displays the 9C00 - 9C07 as the address for the LPT port.  However, 0x9C00 as the address in Mach3 still isn't giving output to the port.  I have a printer that I can connect to the same port and print documents successfully.  My concern is that I don't seem to be getting printer output back to the computer such as out of paper or printer off line.  Are there any tests that I can use besides the printer?

Hi Eduardo,

did you try the program MachProfile? This program shows all installed LPT's and checks the ports pins settings. Perhaps you could tell me your experience.

Klaus is very modest about his excellent programs.  :)

Here is the link to MachProfile and other useful programs  http://www.kd-dietz.de/index_eng.htm

Tweakie and Klaus,

Thanks for the site.  Downloaded and found that I have no LPTs on my computer.  I must have a problem with the new aftermarket parallel card that I have put in the computer.  I can print but get no printer status feedback to the computer.  Mach3 will not access the address that device manager says I have the LPT assigned to.  I will get another board.

Sorry Eduardo.   Didn't mean to slip in on your post.

Hi ALR,

as far as I know is the Mach3 driver not working on 64bit systems.
