Title: New machine build

Hello all:  I am new to the cnc world, i just completed my first machine build. I used rockcliff driver,24vdc power supply, 270 oz. bipolar steppers, with their fixed gantry moving Y table.If anybody has any tips on software and how i can start into cutting and get my feet wet. Many Thanks, LRJ

It's too late now, but I usually recommend learning how the software works, and the entire process, before building the machine. It makes it a lot easier to use when it's finished. :) First thing to do is watch all the videos, to learn how Mach3 works.

The experts on this forum are second to none. I cut my first chips
by getting advice from here.
Depending on what you want to do with the machine, I'm a
big fan of Vetric software. I have VcarvePro, but Aspire is the
newest. I have yet to out grow VcarvePro.
Just my two cents.

Hi LRJ,

The Vectric website http://www.vectric.com/ has many free examples which you can cut to get more experience of your machine and Mach use.

There are many free software programs available, some good - others of marginal use. The first detail profile shapes I made, were using 'G-Simple' which can be found here http://www.gsimple.gr/
