Title: 3d Digitizing PlugIn version 3.0
Post by: Keith on October 08, 2006, 01:54:53 PM
What is this 'plug in'? I'm just getting around to experimenting with a probe. Seems like it might be something I want. Does it work with the 'digitizing wizard' in 'Wizards'(which I can't make heads or tails of). Any other tutorials on using a probe would be nice. Info is slim out there.-Keith

Look for the thread that talks about it and you should be okay :)

To get it working you need to go to config plugin and enable it. After you do that close mach 3 and reopen it. you should see "probe"  by help on the menu bar.

Hi and thanks Brian. I grabbed that plug-in but it saves as a text file not a .dll. Anyway I put it in the 'plug in' folder in Mach3 but when I try to 'enable', it doesn't come up as a potential plug-in (I suppose)because of the extension. Should I rename it as a .dll?Thanks-Keith

Yes it should bew a .dll . if it is not... hhmmm was it a .txt when you got it? if it is a .m3p file just bouble click it and it should install

Thanks, yes it is an .m3p (but if you view it on a Mac which is where I download stuff on,it comes up as text characters)and I just installed that into the Mach plug in folder on my controller machine. All is well now. Thanks,Keith

Wait, spoke too soon,no matter where I put that file,a double click just brings it up in 'notepad' as text.-Keith

I downloaded on my Mac. Maybe the Mac puts an the extra extension(it reads 'Probing-1.m3p.txt',saved to desktop).I then eliminate the .txt extension and rename it with just the .m3p extension. Transfer it to my machine that's controlling the cnc. Double click and still it opens in 'notepad'.-Keith

Maybe your file association for .m3p has been set to open with notepad, try removing the association (if there is one) and see if it works correctly.

The machine is indeed suggesting it to be open with 'notepad'. I can 're-associate' the file but I'm not sure what 'association' is appropriate for a self extracting file such as this.-Keith

Heres a screenshot of what the association should be I think.

Thanks Hood. I managed to get the folder options to look like the screen shot but in doing so ,it asks for an 'action' to take place. I said:"open". Not sure if that's right. Still opened in notebook. When I'm 'clicking' on this file, should it be residing in the plug in folder? Anyway,I tried it in the folder and outside the folder.-Keith

Ok,I got it,but it didn't happen automatically. Once I told 'folders' to open that type of file with M3 plug-in control,I then went to where it was and manually did an 'open with' and used that same control and it extracted .Thanks for getting me started. -Keith

After all that, everything went kookie. I often got an error code from Mach on start-up and would have to open Mach a second time to not get the error.Last night ,all I got was this error. I was using 1.95x.So this morning I went back to 1.84 and that came up nicely with no problems. However,I notice LazyCam is not there and the 'plug-in enable' is gone from the menu. Does this only work with the on-going ver2.0? Is 2.0 pretty stable? By the way, since I already had the probing file in it's .dll form,I thought I'd put it in the plug-in folder that way. Not sure if that's ok.-Keith
