Title: Mach 3 stopped working
Post by: Philip on March 23, 2010, 11:36:00 AM
Hi my name is Philip and have a sign shop. Have been using Mach 3 for around three years running a router table.
It has been running great and then just stopped. I do believe it is the software side. I start the program and it sinks with the table.
Then I use the jog buttons for put in x, y values and hit the Z button nothing happens. When I do that the status bar flashes "Safe Z turned Off.
Ignoring Safe_Z Move". I'm not sure what this means or how to turn this on. I went to Config and some where I saw something that seem to pertain
to this so I switched it over and then the status bar did not read this but still worked. The DRO do not change when I try to jog.

If anyone has any idea.

Thanks

Not quite sure what you are meaning but if its just you can not jog then check the Jog Control is not switched off.

The xml is your configuration file. If you use the standard profile it will be called Mach3Mill.xml if you use a custom profile then it will be whatever your profile is called.
You will find it in the main Mach3 folder, you will need to copy it to your desktop and rename it so that the forum will accept it as an attachment, suggest you rename it to Philip.xml
To attach use the additional options button on the reply page.

Hello Hood:

Please see the attached. There was a .xml and one named router.xml and I think that would be the one.

Thank you for your time,
Philip

Afraid that seems to be the wrong xml as there is nothing configured in it.

Hello Hood:

Here is the other one. Also I went into config/ports & pins/motoroutput and nothing was enable. I check the x,y,z,
and when back to the operating window and know the DRO changes value but it is not talking to the table.

Any ideas.

Thanks you
Philip

Philip, afraid that one is blank as well.
You will need to find out which pins you have the Step and Dir signals connected to and set them up in Ports and Pins, Motor Ouputs, and also remember to enable each axis and set a port number for each step and dir pin.
Your port number will just be 1 unless you have a second port, so that part should be straightforward.

Hood thank you. I will give that a try. Is there a directory file that keeps back ups that I could pick a date when the machine
was running and use that as my new profile? If so where would it be cause I looked and nothing said back up that I could find.

Thanks for your time,
All the best,
Philip

There is a backup automatically kept every so often, not sure if its each day or each time you start. To get a backup go to operator menu then choose Restore Settings. You should get a drop down box to choose how many days ago you want to restore from, if you dont get that then it would seem you are using the wrong profile or something serious went wrong and all was wiped out.

Hood:

I don't seem to have a restore settings. I'm going to try
to reset this the way you suggest.

Thank you so much for your help and time.

All the best,
Philip

You must have an old version of Mach if there is no restore option :(
