Title: wizards
Post by: robh on March 10, 2010, 08:11:16 PM
Help please,
I have been using the round pocket wizard by Brian Barker which is included in the Mach 3 program. All worked well at first but now the pockets are not round, there are flats on both sides in the X plane. I am using a sherline mill !.

Adjust the screws to remove some of the backlash on the Sherline.
It's not the program.

Hi Rich,
Thanks for the reply, I should have thought of that !. There is definitely something loose in the Z axis lead screw.
Should I be using the backlash compensation in the config. menu also?. I have tried it but it seems to slow things down quite a bit.
Bob.

Make the mechanical adjustments as best you can and then use  backlash comp . It works quite well and shouldn't slow things much
since all it does it take out the non movement on change of direction.

Thanks again Rich,
I adjusted the leadscrews as you suggested and all is working fine.
