Hi Boris
When this screen is being used and the MDI is active then the spindle button does not work
When the focus is removed then spindle button works OK
Phil

Are you talking about a physical button or the screen button? If a physical button how have you got it set up?

Hood spindle has a Hotkey and that hotkey is mapped to a button in Pokeys

Boris no need for a crystal ball just read post number one "I want to press a button that is connected to Pokeys"
Also read number three this shows what i am doing while the Pokeys is disabled.
Due to the tone of your answer i must ask the question, Is this a bug in Pokeys
Phil
-
That is why its not working, cant have a hotkey getting used when in MDI Line ;)
Further to that hotkeys are not a good idea in my opinion, much better to use OEM Triggers as they will work at any time where hotkeys only work when there is the button on the screen at the time. For example if you have a MPG and want to change the axis that it jogs on you would need to have that button on the screen if using hotkeys, so that could involve changing to another page in the screenset. With an OEM you can do it at any time, even while in a wizard ;)

;D Phill, no reported and leaving bugs in a PoKeys.
Crystal bowl was supposed to be a joke.
You should not be so misterious when you have a problem.
Hood was faster. Thanks Hood.

Hood good helpful answer as always thanks
Boris you need some lessons in humour ::)
Likewise my comment about bugs in Pokeys was also a joke.

OK learning as i go i have set up some keys to to use the oem triggers
When i did that to jogging letting go of the button did nothing for my heart rate as the machine continued jogging
I have the pokeys set as digital input and invert pin ticked
Phil
-
Dont use OEM triggers for jogging, there are specific Inputs for them, just enter Port 10 and Pin whatever you have the switch connected to on the PoKeys.
Hood
-
Hood thanks,
There is so much stuff down there.
I have set the port and pins correctly but i need a crystal ball to know which setting to use in Pokeys
I am still getting continuous jog then i hit the estop
Boris is your crystal ball up and running yet ;D

can you attach your xml and I will have a look.
Hood

Oh the shame :-[ :-[ :-[

Ha ha well I have looked and you seem to have them set right. Can't test though as I thought I had the PoKeys here but it must be in the workshop, will try and remember it tomorrow.

Just tried emulating the inputs and they are working fine so maybe it is a plugin or pokeys issue, wont know until I can test it out.
Curious though, I see you have MPGs, do you not use them for jogging? I never use anything else, have a rotary to switch betwen Velocity mode and MultiStep mode and thats all I ever use.
Hood
-
I use two rotary encoders but they are connected directly to the SS and they both work together so its just like a manual lathe. ;D
I haven't tried emulating but guess they would work Ok they are acting like latching switches rather than push to make when using Pokeys using all the latest program and plugin if your watching Boris

phil,
Jogging from other than the physical keys will be an issue for you. UNLESS.... if you bring in an input that represents jogging to an ULED, you will have to build a Brain, OR, macro pump, that when the LED is ON you jog this or that axis this or that way, and when it is off you stop the jogging. You have to tell mach to STOP jogging once jogging is started from anyother source than the keyboards. The Brain has both start and stop jogging functions that you will need to set up the logic based on your inputs to start and stop the jog.

I was always under the impression that the Inputs for Jogging were to allow the use of momentary buttons, I have just tried this by setting up the external jog X to pin 11 on port 1 of the SS and shorted the pins and it jogs, release and it stops. Why would that not work with the PoKeys if it was set as a digital input?

Phil
just got the PoKeys hooked up, the plugin I have here is an old one so will download and test with the latest. However when I put a momentary switch on Pin 1 of pokeys and set it up as Jog X++ it works exactly as it should. Will let you know how I get on with the latest plugin and software.

Ok Phil, have used the latest PoKeys software and it is working fine, tried with your xml and you have active High selected so unless your switch is NC you need to change that. Still not tried with the latest plugin so will try that in a few mins but working fine so far :)
Hood
-
Ok last report, got the latest pluhgin installed and its working fine so not sure where your problem lies unless its because you have a NO switch and have active High chosen, if your switch is NO then it should be Active Low.

Hood
Thanks for your help i have now got it working. ;D

Thanks to Scott as well, keep your head down mate. ;)

Hey Hood, Phil,
Sorry about that then, I guess it has changed the last time I dealt with external jog keys, (on the 6 axis jog plugin), when the key was active I had to make it jog, when the key was unactive I had to tell it to quit.
sorrry about my error gents..........
