Title: run from here again
Post by: bevins on February 23, 2010, 08:28:51 PM
Hi all,

again, I have to run in the middle of the file. I put in the correct mach# and hit enter. It goes to that ;line. 476473, when I hit run from here, a window pops up and says premove. I hit ok and it goes to line 372661. What gives? Where did that line # come from? What gives?

thanks,

Did you hit Enter after (manually?) entering the line number?

Works here.

Regards,
John Champlain

Sorry, just noticed that you did.

That is weird. Seems random. Can make it happen here by stopping running code with the RESET, then RESET , select a line and do a RUN FROM HERE. Seem to revert back to the last entry made, or there about.
But then after the prep move with the goofy # displayed, hit Cycle Start again and it immediately jumps to the proper line and commences. Does yours do this ?

Might just be a display glitch.

Bob, when you do a RFH with a file that big, how long does it take Mach to scroll through to your selected line midway of the code ? Would take a week here lol.
Do you use the Set Next Line function ? Just make sure you are in a good prep position and your modals/tools are set right. Might save some time ... and hassle.

It doesn't get to the line number. It stops about 100000 or so before.

I don't get it unless it is a bug. Can you download it and see if it happens to you? line Mach# 467423. The tool change M6 T2.

For the toopaths that I need to do this with, I guess I will run EMC for it. Thats an option.

Bob,
If I try a RFH to 467423 it scrolls to about 350000 and goes into EStop.

Try this, Enter 467423, hit SET NEXT LINE and see if it goes to that # in the code window. Does here.
I think it will ask for a prep move but it wont scroll through the code to look for the modals and stuff. Make sure they are right and the right tool is in there.
Hit Start and it should take off right there and run.

Strange...sometimes I get the prep box and sometimes not with SNL.

Goes into e-stop if I put 467423 in the LINE textbox and hit set next line it goes into estop.

SNL works perfect here.........every time.
Any line you want.
If you can, restart Mach and try again.

btw.....what is all of the gazillion little X moves with no other axis moving ?
Just curious, never saw code like that before.
But, I haven't seen a lot.

That is the best way I can get a really good finish on the radius of a tele fretboard. Its kind of odd but the finish is amazing. don't have any sanding to do...:-) Well maybe light sanding just to get the polished finish.

Were you able to restart Mach and try SNL again ?

It worked. Problem is if I am in the middle of cutting a part and Mach needs a reset before this work. I don't know what run from here does othe than run from where Mach wants it to run. Maybe they should rename it to "run from a random line"...:-) I guess it is a bug.

May be related to the huge file size.

btw, I can stop, feedhold, estop, any combo many times and SNL still works every time.

Yours might also now that you've restarted Mach. It's really smart, but it can get confused at times.....mine does.

Try this the next time.
Punch in the line you want to start from and hit enter then click on that line in the code window so that the window is highlighted then press Run From Here. You should then see the counter go to zero and count down to your line then you press start and it will ask for your approval of the prep move.

Does the same. It stops at 372366 after I hit run from here.

Hey Hood, that works good here, neat trick.
(looks like a click anywhere in the window works while the requested line is highlighted)

Try this, while the code is running hit stop instead of Feed hold (I know you shouldnt....)or, EStop and rehome then enter a line # and do as you say above.
Notice after the prep move OK , the line # changes but becomes correct when you hit the start button the second time.
I think this is what Bob was seeing but nothing is really wrong, seems to run from the right line.
