Post by: gaz. on February 10, 2010, 01:51:27 PM
Hello,
I am in need of some help.  I needed to purchase a new lead screw 500mm long,  so i bought one and its the whong bloody tpi.  I need an 11tip one and i bought a 9tpi one.   I have searched all over google for one but to no avail.
I need this asap aswel because orders are backing up with no machine :(.  So anybody know where i can get one, it needs to be 11tpi and 12mm thick.
Thank you in advance!

u.k btw.

Why do you have to have a 11tpi, you can fit the 9 tpi and just change the 'steps per' in mach3 config and be up and running in no time.

but i have all the nuts etc fit on the machine for the 11tpi and the other 2 axis are running on 11tpi.  Could i just change the 1 axis to 9tpi and leave the others on 11?

If not where is the best place to get nuts, lead screws etc.

cheers

Yes, just change the one, it makes no difference to the software, you just calibrate it as 9tpi for that axis.

If you were to change one leadscrew from 11 pitch to 9 pitch then, what I would do is:-

In Motor Tuning take your existing 'Steps per' value (select the required axis first) and multiply it by 11. This would give you an arbitrary value which you then divide by 9 the result being the new value to use for 'Steps per'.
