Title: Pokeys with Mach Turn
Post by: SScnc on February 10, 2010, 07:56:36 AM
Hello, I have the pokeys plugin and software installed on my computer and I'm looking to use it with Mach Turn.

When I open turn, there is no plugin under the drop down menu for pokeys.

Now in the mach loader there is a profile for pokeys, but it comes up for the mill control.

Are these not compatible?

Thanks, Scott

I tried both still nothing. I tried installing the plug-in for multiple pokey's and then just a for the single one. I still can't see it under the plugin menu.

Any suggestions?

Ok I didn't have the plugin enabled under the config menu.

Now I'm having the issue of getting my MPG setup. Im using the 4axis mpg from CNC4PC.com. There instructions are very brief.

Any help is appreciated.

Use the tab key to bring out the screen MPG

You may have to enable the button for MPG  ;D

My own preference is to use step/velocity for getting close to the work. A fast wind of the MPG goes at rapid speed when in this mode  and then switch the mode to continuous jog for the final amount.

The step amount may not be accurate when using step/velocity

Then set a jog amount in the relevant DRO

I wish it were that easy. Still nothing. I can't get the enable switch on the actual pendant to turn the LED on. Also how does mach know which button does what. Do I have to assign them pin numbers under ports and pins? Like I said the instructions pretty much suck on the website.

Also I'm now getting the message "No Pokeys device found"

Well first you got to have the pokeys found.

I suggest you make sure you have the latest drivers current ver 2.0.13 of the pokeys

When it is enabled under CONFIG/PLUGINS

Then set it up from the menu PLUGIN CONTROL/POKEYS CFG

On that page it tells you how to set the pins

Ok I'm making progress. I got mach to recongnize pokeys. Now, about the brains. I downloaded them and put them in the mach brains folder. I have three. Two are EStop and one is jogging. Do I enable all of them? I tried enabling the jog and one estop but for some reason I can get out of "Estop button pressed"

I have a jumper wire right now to simulate an estop button. Any ideas?

i am using the pokeys with turn. not using it with the plugin though. i found the mpg mode did not work satisfactory for me.but as a keyboard emulator its great. built a control panel with the functions of jog select , increment select, step, multistep, velocity step, select mpg, select axis, +- feedrate,+- spindle speed, reset feed, reset spindle, spindle on, coolant on.used momentary pushbuttons. created my own keyboard shortcuts for each function in screen4.also installed a 12 button keypad from velleman for future use.

I guess I should have updated.

I got the pendant working, I had a corrupt Mach XML. I reinstalled Mach and got a fresh XML and everything works, Sorta.

The MPG, like you all know is very very laggy with Pokeys. I spoke with the guy from cnc4pc.com and he said that they are working on something new for fast encoders which will solve the laggyness.

I'm using the motherboard with the 4axis pendant from cnc4pc.com. There are issues with the brains they supply, as far as the switches and jog on/off are concerned. I'm not gonna get into to much detail.
