Title: Home built CNC used for teaching, robotics and other
Post by: jhertzberg on January 10, 2010, 03:27:10 AM
Hi
I'm running Mach3 and Lazy Cam on a semi home built CNC

The table is from K2, stepper controllers are Gecko, with a small computer from Fry's all bolted to a wheeled cart from Costco.

Some of the projects I've run on it include small boards to build hysteresis sensors on for teaching, control panels for controlling ROVs(Remotely Operated Vehicles, underwater), power access panels for MATE ROV contest (Marine Advanced Technology in Education).

The project you see mounted on the table is being made with a ¼” thick expanded PVC board.  Cuts great.  Very easy to machine.

CNC picture attached.  The 3/8” layer of dust is from cutting 6 boxes, medieval style.  Picture attached.

Sincerely,
Jeremy
