Title: How do i get my Servo spindle to work?
Post by: Gadget on January 08, 2010, 01:48:51 PM
I´ve been trying for hours now and cannot get it to work.
I´m using the smooth stepper with breakout board MB-02.
The spindle motor is a small 150W servo motor with following encoder. (HEDS-5540)http://www.chipcatalog.com/Datasheet/FA1DD47A1C902DD3EC1732ECFCA376DF.htm (http://www.chipcatalog.com/Datasheet/FA1DD47A1C902DD3EC1732ECFCA376DF.htm)
(The lathe is a small Emco unimat and the original spindle is about 50W)
Here is the servo drive i use http://www.cnc2all.com/servo-engine-driver.html (http://www.cnc2all.com/servo-engine-driver.html)
This is my first build and i´m completely lost.  :(
I´m trying to set up the motor in the program provided with the servo drive (UHU controller).

If I connect the encoder channels as they´re supposed to i can get the motor to turn to a specific position but in Mach 3 nothing happens.
If I swap the channels a&b the spindle does 1 turn then there is an error lamp.
Someone´s got a clue where i should start??
I really need help.

Kind Regards

Ricard
