Newbie trying to set up my estop i am using pmdx-122 on page 6 of the pmdx-122 manual they show a link on j6
for the e-stop i removed the link shown and put in its place a mushroom button [ normally closed ]
ports and pins set to port 1 and pin number 13.
i jog the machine and push the mushroom button this had no affect machine did not stop.
if i hit the reset button on the mach 3 screen everything comes to a halt.
thanks woodguy

Do you also have JP6 in the "Normal" position?
-
You must also configure Mach3 to have pin 10 as the E-Stop input, and make it active high.

Hi ray
not sure what you mean by normal position?
its connected between estop and gnd

Look at the picture in the manual. JP6 is a configuration jumper, NOT the terminals the switch is connected to. It configures what happens when the E-Stop input is activated.

An E-Stop MUST remove power from the things that move. You can never rely on any circuit board to keep you safe. The input to your PMDX board is there to help inform Mach that an E-Stop has occurred it does not make an E-Stop circuit all by itself.

Ok some things are falling into place [slowly but getting there] i will check the jp6 jumper today and see if thats the problem.
I am also looking for some advise setting up my z zero plate.
in settings alt6 i have my safe z retraction set and my plate thickness set. also i have placed a z zero on my mach screen
so i can zero from there. with a 5 sec delay what i need to do now is physically connect my z plate to mach 3.
how do i hook it up so mach 3 will recognise it? i cannot find anything specifically relating to this on mach 3 configuration manual.
thanks woodguy

Regards the E-Stop, have you set it up to Pin 10 as Ray mentioned in his second post? The PMDX uses Pin 10 for the E-Stop and you can not use Pin 13 as you mentioned in your opening post.

Thanks Hood yes i have it set to pin 13 will change it to pin 10

Regarding the Z plate - As you now have pin 13 free, connect it there and configure 'probe' (config, ports & pins, input signals) to pin 13.
