Title: Putting Mach on a different computer.
Post by: Marwellca on December 20, 2009, 07:32:12 PM
I just changed the computer that I use to run my CNC Router. When I loaded the copy of Mach 3 that I have ,R 2.63, onto the new computer, I noticed a change. It seems that I can no longer change the values in the DRO's on the Program Run screen. Before when I clicked on the DRO I could alter the value and run from there. Now I can't. What do I have to change or do to allow this?

Thanks,

Martyn.

Martyn,
Make sure you are in WORK coordinates as you cannot change the DRO's while in MACHINE coordinates.
If that's not it, we'll go from there.

RC,
if by Wok Coordinates you mean that the Machine Coordinates button is not outlined in red, that is where I am.

That was the most obvious item to check first, next would be that you are hitting ENTER after the selection.....but something tells me you are aware of that too. Might try loading Mach again over itself.

All that happens when I click on the DRO is that is becomes a shade lighter. I tried re-installing Mach over itself as you suggested but ended up with the same result. Any other suggestions?

Is it a laptop? Have a look and see what the keyboard is set to, kind of sounds like the keystrokes may not be getting seen by Mach because your keyboard layout is for a different region.

No sorry, it is a PC. I wanted to upgrade the computer I used for my CNC Router. The old one worked but it was well.... old. Not enough ram and the processing speed was terrible. I picked up a used computer at the local second hand computer store. It runs Mach very well but it just will not let me alter the numbers in the DRO's. I am going to try and reinstall Mach into a different location and see if that works.

I am using the same monitor, mouse, and keyboard as before just the CPU changed.

Check the regional settings and keyboard layout settings in Control Panel of windows and make sure they are set correctly.

I checked the settings and all are okay. I re installed Mach 3 in a different folder and even renamed the folder but all still works the same. Is there a possibility that the install file has become corrupted?

Do any of the other keys work in the DRO for example the + or / or * and if you hit the enter key does the DRO go back to normal?
What about the MDI line, can you type in that?

Martyn,
Just for fun...under OPERATOR, select AUTO-CALCULATOR and see if you can change the DRO that way.......with the mouse.
That will eliminate the kbd. for a test.

HI Guys,
I finally have it working correctly. I wiped Mach 3 off the machine completely and reinstalled and now it works fine. I don't know what the issue was before. Strange. Thanks for the help though, much appreciated.
