Title: ground wiring question
Post by: BarryB on December 06, 2009, 11:40:23 PM
Hey folks, I've got a question concerning ground wires.  I've got a power supply that has 3 outputs.  One 65v, one 5v, and one 12v.  I'm using all of them in my build, and I'm grounding each of them separately.  An engineer friend of mine suggested that I should really link all the grounding wires together, so they aren't floating relative to each other.  Does that make sense to you all?  I was worried that it would make my control box blow up in my face.  Anyway, let me know...

Barry,

In an ideal situation you would have all your ground wires, screens etc running to a single point ground (to avoid ground loops and possible noise pickup). In reality it is not quite as simple as that but it is what you should aim for.
