Title: What Next?
Post by: jsnbrgg on November 20, 2009, 01:49:53 PM
Hi,

I've played with CNC stuff for a couple years, but I'm relatively new to this and there's a lot that I don't understand.

I'm trying to play with probing or video probing, and I'm wondering once I get the point cloud how do I get it to g-code so that I can cut it?  Is there a tutorial somewhere that tells you how to get from the point cloud to g-code?  I have access to a version of Rhino that's a couple of years old, will it make the g-code?  If so how do I do it?

Any tips or pointers would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Jason

Jason, I don't know yet myself but hopefully I will be able to help around the first of the year with this. I finally got my Digi camera a week ago but have some other things I have to finish before I can dive into the video probeing. Please post information as you find it as well. You can import the point cloud in Rhino I believe and then use a cam software to generate code from the model. I may be way off though as I have not tried it yet. You can also use Mach Cloud to view the point cloud I think.  It can be found in the downloads tab at the top of this page in the ArtSoft Recommended CAM Programs section.
