Title: How fast??
Post by: swets on September 09, 2006, 03:44:33 PM
First sorry for the bad English.... I do my best..

I have 4 steppers : http://www.nc-step.de/pdf/pk268-e.pdf (http://www.nc-step.de/pdf/pk268-e.pdf)

but i still have (sometimes ) problems with my machine with missing steps....
before i try a other computer first wanna know i don't try run to fast with my steppers...

So i have the steppers you can see in the PDF...
my power supply is 40 volts 10 amps...

and i have build  stepper drives with a L297 + L6203. (step & Dir)
i work on half-step.

In mach2 (there i didn't miss steps?)
by motor setup:

step per Unit = 133 , because the spindle is 15x3 so 1 turn=3 mm so 400 step = 3 mm  -> 1 mm = 133 steps
Velocity 15
Accel 1800

that did work.....but only the sliders where a little strange...

now in MACH3:
Motor tuning and set up

Step per : 133
Velocity:1200
Acceleration: 1200
G's :0.1970

now it works (almost ) alright if i go not higher than Feed Rate 1000...

but is maybe is that to fast for the steppers i use?

is there somebody that understand the PDF, and can tell me how fast everthing must be works well?
so i know for sure i miss step because of the "dirty"computer?
is there somebody that can explain and tell me more?

Hi, Swets

You need to set the acceleration down to a value much lower try 10  ( This is the start speed ).

The Velocity is the max speed, If the steppers slip at 1000 then set it down to 900.

You may need to set the Step, Dir Pulse's Up to 4 or 5 to start with (the range is 0 - 5 This is the time Mach pulse is on to give your driver

time to See the step or direction change.

What is the speed of the computer you are useing

Hope this Helps, Chip

Hi, Swets

Yes if your using Bipolar drivers with 40 V 10 A you should use series on the steppers.

Phase A Black, connect Yellow-Orange Together, Phase A- Green.

Parse B Red, connect White-Brown together, Parse B- Blue.

Hope this Helps, Chip
