One of my friends is playing a practical joke on me as these things keep turning up in my workshop, I have quite a few now.
Does anyone know what they are or what they are used for ?.
They are made from high tensile steel but that is all I can tell about them. Help urgently needed on this one please.

Tweakie,
I am sure there are more appropriate places to post for people that have very personal physical deformities. ;D

159 people have viewed this topic so far and nobody knows what they are yet - I can't believe it. ;D
I found another one today. The collection is growing. If only I could find a use for them - no suggestions please. >:D

It looks like it is a spring of some sort.
-
Thanks SteinarN,
It does look like a spring but there is little springiness in the object - it is in fact extremely rigid.
If I knew what it was then it would be an ideal candidate for a competition. :)

Hi Tweakie,
My guess would be that it is a Snap Hook of sorts, similar in function to the one pictured.
Probably for a specific application.
Something would be permanently attached to the rigid/closed eye then by pinching the body, the other opens slightly to be attached to another element.
Just a hunch.
(I could use some of these on my trot lines...lol)

...maybe they could connect *end to end* to make a chain ? ? ?
Chain links....yeah, maybe ?
hmmmmmm ?
RC
EDIT: Looking again..would be a bit tough to hook these together.
Chain not good maybe ::)

It's just something to hold you car's keys
;D ;D ;D

If it was stainless I would say it was for livestock castration or something to pinch a line off permanantly. ???
What does your friend do besides boggel our minds? You got to give us some hints. Help us to help you. ;D

Thanks for the suggestions Guys.
The person I most suspect of leaving these in my workshop (but I am not sure) manufactures specialist transformers and coils etc.
Hope this may be a clue.

Could well be that, thanks.

I knew I'd seen something like that before!
It's a ruler, metric, made in Japan.

Brilliant Matt. ;D ;D ;D

looks like part of a tagging system.say you do some stator coils and you want to tag the wire pairs so they dont get mixed up.
after they dip and seal the coils they are removed during instalation as the leads are connected.

You guys are so dense.
It is obviously a round toit.
For people who have difficulty getting "around to it."
Sheesh.

I'm curios , what the hell is it?

Hi Ed,
Consensus of opinion (but is hasn't been confirmed) is that it is a fuseable link.
I still have not found out who is leaving them in my workshop because nobody will admit to it. (wonder if i could sell them on ebay) :D

twisted pair wiring? Doh......thread bend twist? Do I win? thats what I'd use it for, only if i had a wire tension spool twisting machine.
