Title: Zenbot CNC
Post by: mel4853 on August 21, 2009, 05:21:55 PM
Just got my Zenbot machine but have one problem. When I have jog mode set to step & cycle jog step set at .0001 & hit button to move it moves .0009. If I hit to move again it goes to .0018 & so forth. Zenbot sent the set up files for Mach3. Just copied & pasted these into Mach3 folder.

what are your steps per unit? I am guessing they wont work out evenly to such a small move.

Steps per=1112   Velocity=199.98   Acceleration=40   Step&Dir Pulse both at 4

1 inch divided by 1112 steps  =  0.00089928"  which is basically what you are getting shown in the DROs :) If Mach moved another step then it would be way past where you had told it to go. Mach can only get as close as the steps per unit can allow.

The  only thing you could do is increase the steps per unit by either increasing the microstep setting of the drive if that is possible or increasing the gearing between motor and screw,  but that is likely to hit on your rapid speeds.
I dont know what a Zenbot is but unless it is a very rigid and precise machine you will never manage to get that resolution anyway, 0.0001" is a very small size, your tool will probably flex 5 times that ;)
