Hello all,
I have read every topic in this group to see if I could find any info on the problem that I am having. I purchased a SS + some BOB's about a month ago for replacing a controller on a machine we have here at work. Right now I've got about 90% of the wiring done, and I'm testing/fixing the problems as they come up. So far everything looks to be working as it should (at least on the bench).
My problem is that the SS will only output 1.6v when I activate a output. Everything else is working, I get good resolution on the charge pump (connect to a C17 Master Control), and from what I can tell all the axis's are looking good when connected to an oscilloscope.
Also, one more thing is that all of the Port 3 pins are active, as in they have voltage on them, and the diag window confirms this. They don't have any thing connected to them though....
I am running the SmoothStepper Beta2 Ver 0.015obg plugin.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Ryan

Tried powering from an external 5V (remembering to shift the jumper)

I was just reading over my post and forgot to mention that I did that too.
Thanks for the quick reply though!

Is there any benefit from using the +5v external power? For my outputs, I have my 6 axis's (step and direction), 2 outputs (mist and flood), Spindle (step and direction). 16 outputs might seem like a bit for USB...

I am just wondering if your USB is not powering the SS enough. Dont really know if it could be the case that that would happen without an error being thrown but worth a try.

Just hooked it up again, and same problem.
What about the port 3 pins being powered? I don't have anything connected to them and I'm getting right around 2.5v at each terminal.... I thought they were used as "IN" only?
Thanks again for all the help!

I have just hooked up my spare SS and get 2.5 at the differential inputs on port 3 and 4.3 on the singles. The 5v out I get 5v, so looks like that is normal.

ARE you talking voltage at the SS or after the BOBs??
IF after the SS it is a usb port voltage problem and you HAVE to go to an external power source for the SS.( YOU HAVE to change the jumper at the same time or you will still see the port voltage instead of the Outside source)
If it is after the bob then it is a problem with the BOBs outputs.
Just a thought, (;-) TP

Well, hmmmmm....
I am using a C25 BOB from CNC4PC ( http://www.cnc4pc.com/Store/osc/product_info.php?cPath=33&products_id=187 (http://www.cnc4pc.com/Store/osc/product_info.php?cPath=33&products_id=187) ). Could this cause some of the problem? I have their C17 Master Control, and C6 Variable Speed controller working great.

Ok,
I have narrowed it down some. It seems that when I set Port 2 Pins 2 - 9 as outputs, they don't actually become outputs... Anybody else seen this?
