Haydn,
Never heard of a Griffin Powermate, don't know if it's an apple or a lemon!  ;)
Maybe you can provide somemore info on it or how it installs into MACH.

howdee!

I found the thing in the plugins directory and hoped it would be usefull as its a jog wheel it installs ok when i press the wheel down to change axis..cool but when i rotate the wheel no indication in the DRO,s that its working...use the arrow keys and the DRO,s show movement!

so the lemon is a lemon!

Cheers

Well not totally. If it uses an encoder then the encoder can be wired to make an MPG via the PP.
What plug-in directory are you referring to?

HAYDN,

Well, egg on my face !  :) ??? ;) ;D

Can't help you out as i never used that one and just never took notice to it in the PlugIn's.

Surely someone in here must have used it and will post.

Haydn,

I'm also not a user of the Powermate but maybe I can help in some way. Just to be sure you installed the plugin correctly by clicking on it and it will say, plugin installed!

Now Open Mach 3 and with Mach 3 open, in the user menu: go to: Config/config plugins and the config box should come up. Now next to griffin blah blah blah, you should see a red "X" and you should click on that to change it to green check mark. Then click the yellow config box and that will bring up another box.

This is where I will be no help as I do not have one of these but have you at least completed the steps I just mentioned?

Same problem here: I can't get griffin powermate to jog. It only changes the axis when pressing the knob.

Has anyone managed to get this working yet?

BIT OF A LEMON!

I would like to see the ARTSOFT people remove that plugin from the MACH3 website as its the most usless wastefull item in regards to TIME and MONEY of anything on this site....I could have spent that money on something that actually WORKS! In fact I did spend MORE MONEY to get the Contour Express And it WORKS !  YEEE BLOODY HAAAA!

Yesterday I googled around to see if other people have had problems with PM. There was one interesting hack
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=92052.0 related to installation of PM drivers. Unfortenately, it did not solve the problem.

I wonder what Powermate driver version Art was using when writing the Plugin in 2006?. Maybe  Griffin has updated the driver and it is not compatible anymore with the Plugin?

At Griffin's web page (http://www.griffintechnology.com/support/products/powermate) there are two drivers availabe: 1.5.3 and 2.0.1

I have tried both with no luck. Where do we get the older drivers (or do they exist?)

My powermate worked about 2 years ago until some distant update of Mach 3 occurred.  It is now non-functional.  I had upgraded to the new Griffin software and so tried going back to the previous version.  Guess what - it still doesn't work.  It needs to be Art Fenertied!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you guys tried it without installing the PM software? Typically, when using a plugin, you do NOT install the devices drivers.

Hi Gerry,  Yes, I have tried with and without PM drivers. Two months ago I e-mailed also to Art and asked to give away the plugin source code for a look, but no respose yet.
